The Best of Luck is an adventure/fantasy novel following the journey of Marley Luck, a girl who wanted nothing more in life than to be a knight for the noble kingdom of Westwind. However, she was unjustly dismissed and conned by the king. Unable to bring herself to go back home and break the news to her family, Marley decided to stay in Westwind. A king who stole from and cheated his people should not be on the throne, and Marley was determined to remove him from it. In a twist of luck, Marley was asked to be the violinist in the castle’s orchestra, and she used this new position to eventually find a way to dethrone the king. 

Meanwhile, as Marley was working to enact her revenge, the king’s son, Prince Cadence, was looking for a way to redeem himself after losing the respect of his knights. He believed he found the perfect opportunity to do so after hearing of a girl who was out to ruin his father. Because both of them needed to keep their identities a secret, Marley and Cadence wore masks and unique disguises when they went out to destroy the king and save him, respectively. Throughout the book, Marley and Cadence encountered each other as their alter egos, constantly getting in each other’s way. Simultaneously, without their masks on, they were becoming good friends - something Marley desperately didn’t want to happen.
